What do I remember about it? Biting cold and a deep sense of ‘it’s ok, they know what they’re doing”. When it comes to audio, I pick it apart, listen with a critical ear and pour over every detail, but here I’m lost. I knew the Lord put this perfect team together. All I had to do was - whatever they told me.
Stand here and sing-
sit there and sing, you know?
I wanted a still sunny day, but it was overcast, a looming bank of clouds in the north sky, wicked wind coming at us from all directions. The temp was somewhere near 310, as I recall.
I wanted to feel like the heroine, bravely pacing myself walking behind the truck singing with a smile, but I couldn’t help noticing the camera man’s bare hands – one steadying the jib in the wind and the other, the camera. I was afraid his fingers were going to stick to it like your tongue on a pole in winter.
Am I being too dramatic?
The end result though, was this remarkable footage of diffused light producing an amazing, soft blue on the sky and a collage of brown, gray & charcoal on the ground.
Craig took everything to the editing room to fold the ocean scenes in, color grade and whatever else. . . . I loved what the Lord did with the whole thing. I hope you agree.
